Make your mall decoration fire resistant

Mall Decor

Whether it’s a Christmas tree or artificial flowers, there have been numerous incidents in the past where faux decorations have set up shopping malls ablaze. There has been an instance recently where a 45ft artificial Christmas tree caught fire at about 2am on Christmas morning leading to flames as high as 100ft. There was yet another incident of fire killing two people and injuring 36 in 10ft high flames at a store in Long Island Mall which was shockingly fourth fire in six months. This fire was thought to be originated from the artificial flower section of the store which then gained momentum and spread rapidly.

The fire in Long Island Mall began at 8:25 P.M. and raged until midnight causing mass destruction in the 62,000-sqaure-foot building and required about 250 firefighters to bring the fire under control. With increasing number of shopping malls now opting for artificial plants and trees to bring a warm and stately feel to the ambiance, it is becoming increasingly imperative to ensure that all these installations are safe when it comes to fire outbreak.

Being pioneers of silk plants and trees, we understand the dangers and consequences of fire spreading from artificial plants, and as such we have come up with ThermaLeaf. The foliage of our faux topiary plants make use of fire retardant chemicals and hence resists fire further inhibiting its spread. This ensures the safety of people and property and is a great option to use in shopping malls or other commercial spaces as well.

So, if you’re looking to decorate your store in a shopping mall, then bringing in fire retardant plants and trees should be high on your priority list as it will ensure safety of your customers as well as your own store.
